Shavita Kotak

Episode #55: May 22nd, 2025

THE GOLD FROM THIS EPISODE

“Menopause is not a problem to be fixed. It’s the ultimate wakeup call to trust yourself more than anything or anyone else. The uncomfortable symptoms are invitations to voice what has been suppressed, shed what doesn’t serve you, and step into a renewed and more powerful version of yourself.”

Shavita Kotak

Author and Menopause Educator

“Menopause is like being hijacked by the universe in the most exquisite way. It is an opportunity to build a new relationship with your body where you listen to what you need.”

“A hot flash signals that there is something that is not serving you that needs to be burned away. It could be a food I’ve eaten, I'm stressed and haven't set boundaries, or I need to speak my truth.”

Shavita Kotak

Author and Menopause Educator

“During menopause, your intuition and visionary abilities are heightened. Be the menopausal woman who speaks her truth.

“Menopause has helped me soften within myself, act with love, and be in the flow of my life. When you feel safe, you can let go of control, surrender, and be present with whatever happens.”

Shavita Kotak

“I add a sacred pause to my responses to honor myself. When somebody asks me if I can do something, I pause to ask myself if I would be doing it out of obligation, and if by saying yes, I am saying no to myself.”

“Jane Hardwicke Collings invites us to embrace the teachings of our female ancestors as “the red thread” that connects us. Decide that you're going to be the person that breaks the cycle of narratives that don't serve you.”

Shavita Kotak

Author and Menopause Educator

“Menopause has made me feel alive. I've finally given myself permission to be me. Not the version of me that has to hustle and be everything for everybody else. The mask has come off and I’m not pretending. I am saying no to other things and saying yes to myself — to more adventures and more self-care.”

in THIS EPISODE

  • Over 40 and feeling invisible? Shavita Kotak, author of Seven Wonders Of Menopause, shares why midlife isn’t a period of decline, but a divine invitation to listen to your body, ask for what you need, and go after what you want.

  • Shavita recounts how growing up in London in a traditional Indian family had her feeling trapped between two worlds, aching to veer away from the expected path.

  • After traveling the world, studying with healers and living in ashrams in India, she settled in Australia to raise her family. Even with all she’d learned, the emotional and energetic unravelling that came with perimenopause blindsided her.

  • A decade of reading medical research, embracing ancient teachings, and seeking the counsel of female luminaries helped her welcome menopause as a sacred rite of passage. This perspective shift became a gateway to greater liberation and joy, and to her calling—empowering other women to seize opportunity in this life transition.

  • Shavita emphasizes the importance of self-care practices, and walks us through how to tune into our cycles and seasons, and see physical symptoms as signposts for what to say no to in order to say yes to what matters.

  • We celebrate the wisdom of age, the value of elders, and our responsibility to share feminine wisdom. Claiming our roles as community leaders, we can break ancestral cycles and drive generational change.

  • Shavita says: Menopause is about letting go of who you’ve been taught to be, and honoring who you are today.
